Vineyards of Velke Pavlovice

The vineyards of Velke Pavlovice are the second largest area. 5846 producers care of 5,765 acres (9.0 square miles) of vineyards in 34 viticulture communities. The Vineyards extend from Velke Nemcice towards Breclav and Prusanky on the north, up to the slopes of the "Zdanicky les" forest. Thus they are protected against the cold northern winds and open to the warm southern ones and sunbeams. The area is composed of calcareous clays, marls, sand stones and conglomerates. Blue varieties find excellent growing conditions here, especially in area of lower see level. Lower content of acids and red colorings are influenced by warm autumn. Both the "Veltlinske zelene" [Veltlin green] and "Neuburske" [Neuburg] from vineyards, located more on the north, are of the top quality. "Muller-Thurgau", "Ryzlink vlassky" [Riesling Italian], as well as "Modry Portugal" [Blue Portuguese] and "Frankovka" are grown here.
