Vineyards of Podluzi

Vineyards, adjoining the Austrian border on the very south and Slovakia on the east, lie on clays, gravel-sands and drifted sands, with insufficiency of calcium, magnesium and phosphorus, in Hodonin area. Strong and tough varieties as "Ryzlink rynsky" [Petit Riesling], "Ryzlink vlassky" [Riesling Italian], "Rulandske bile" [Pinot blanc], "Rulandske sede" [Pinot gris], blue "Frankovka", "Svatovavrinecke" [St. Lawrence's] and Zweigel-trebe are grown here, nevertheless morning slight frosts cause damages in early spring. Clay soil in the north lap Prusanky village gives good conditions for "Veltlinske zelene" [Veltlin green]. 1371 acres of vineyards are divided into 17 viticulture communities and among 1860 producers. Prusanky, Moravska Nova Ves, Josefov and Hrusky are the largest centre of the region.
