Vineyards of Bzenec

The vineyards, situated on clays, gravel and sandy soils, represent the second smallest viticulture region in Moravia [902 acres, 817 producers]. The area has the lowest number of viticulture communities. Orechov, Bzenec, Polesovice and Vracov are the largest ones. "Rulandske bile" [Pinot blanc], "Veltlinske zelene" [Veltlin green],"Frankovka", "Svatovavrinecke" [St. Lawrence's] dominate here. "Bzenecka lipka", produced from Riesling, is the most known local wine. "Muskat moravsky" [Muscat Moravian], "Vitra" and "Olsava" - new varieties, were created by The Polesovice Cultivation Station.
